Experiments using MSM containing radiolabeled sulfur have shown that following ingestion, MSM releases its sulfur to form collagen and keratin.

Glucosamine is used by the body to make something called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid forms part of the skin’s connective tissue. It attracts up to 1000 times its weight in water, keeping the skin hydrated. It is your body’s natural moisturizer.
It plays an important role in tissue repair and collagen synthesis.
Hyaluronic acid is a very large molecule, and cannot be directly absorbed by the body. One of the most effective ways of increasing its levels in the body is to supplement with one of its component parts, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine.
Biotin has been shown to greatly improve the quality of both the hair and the nails.
(Pol Med J. 1966;5(2):447-52, Effect of biotin on hair roots and sebum excretion in women with diffuse alopecia, Pawlowski A, Kostanecki W.)
Silica has shown to have very positive effects on the quality of skin, hair and nails.
(Arch Dermatol Res. 2005 Oct;297(4):147-53. Epub 2005 Oct 26, Effect of oral intake of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid on skin, nails and hair in women with photodamaged skin, Barel A, Calomme M, Timchenko A, De Paepe K, Demeester N, Rogiers V, Clarys P, Vanden Berghe D.)
THE COLLAGEN LIE
Collagen is a protein molecule. Proteins each have an individual structure, and it is this structure which gives it its function. Change the structure, and you change the function.
Proteins get broken down by the digestive system into free amino acids and groups of amino acids called dipeptides and tripeptides. This obviously changes the function of those proteins and basically destroys them.
Collagen is a big protein molecule that cannot be directly absorbed by the body. So what happens when one ingests collagen? The body breaks it down into amino acids, dipeptides and tripeptides, which it will then use for whatever it needs at the time: to rebuild muscle tissue, to create vital enzymes, as a fuel source, to repair damaged tissue etc. Possibly it will use a portion of the collagen amino acids to make active collagen in one’s body, but this is not a given.
If one really wants to directly increase collagen levels in the body, a far better solution is to use the supplement MSM.
MSM has been shown to directly increase collagen production. Not only that, but it also increases keratin levels. (Keratin is a major constituent of one’s hair and nails).
Of course, most people are well aware that the quality of their skin is related to their collagen levels, and so supplement companies have capitalised on this by simply adding cheap collagen to their products. Sorry folks, but you’ll be getting cheaper and more collagen just by eating a chicken breast with the skin on than you are by taking actual collagen capsules…
Take two tablets per day, after meals.
